How to take care of you in between facials at Plume
You’ve made the time and come in for a facial to help give your skin a little TLC. But how do you keep that fresh-faced glow in the days after and before your next facial?
Surprisingly, our tips for this aren’t all based on what to keep applying to your face between appointments.
At Plume, we believe that simplicity is key to your at-home skincare regime. The more products and more ingredients within them can make it hard for you and your skincare therapist to know what is working. We prefer to focus on minimal steps, that work into your schedule, and focus on specific concerns. There’s so many seasonal and health changes that can cause a shift in the health of your skin.
“It is important to understand there are so many factors affecting what happens to your skin,” Plume’s lead skincare therapist Janet said. “Ultimately, I remind clients constantly to start by cutting themselves some slack.”
“We lead increasingly busy lives and we’re fitting more into each day. Let yourself be reminded that you’re doing the best you can!”
Janet’s other tips for in-between appointment skincare at home include:
Make sure you’re getting quality sleep
Sleep is spoken about as one of the best beauty tips for a reason. Without quality sleep each night your body and skin (it is your largest organ!) cannot repair, rest and restore. It really is important for your overall well-being.
Do your best to create a balance between work, play and rest
In an ideal world we’d all have an expertly balanced division between work, play and rest. Often, we overlook play and rest in favour for more work (both professional and at home). That said, filling your own cup up even in the smallest ways will go a long way to helping you maintain that post-facial radiance.
Find what is your go-to to re-calibrate
One of the reasons we stock Bestow Beauty at Plume is the ethos behind the brand. Janine, Bestow’s founder, crafted the products to support wellness from the inside out. Brewing a cup of tea is one simple way to create a ritual in your day. It is also a fantastic way to hydrate - especially in the cooler months when a cup of cold water doesn’t cut it. Take the time to make a pot of tea, pour it and sit to savour each sip knowing your body is benefiting.
Use the right products
While a lot of things can be taken care of internally, topically you want to keep it simple. We work to always maintain the skin’s natural barrier and want your at-home products to be efficient naturally without hyper exfoliation. Look for gentle cleansing products and a nourishing mask which can be left on overnight to truly give your skin a boost of essential nutrients for good health.
